Healthcare Market Intelligence Conference (HMIC)

Japanese Healthcare Industry has been facing the never-seen-before challenges by Technological Innovation and Globalization which lead the controversial topics of insight roles in turning points.
Under these circumstances, people who are engaged in insight work in this industry and research companies shall have to take lead and go ahead of these new movements, to provide better information, analysis, and services than ever before.
We believe that improving the skills of insight specialists and developing human resources are indispensable in order to make faster and better business management decisions in the healthcare industry.
For the insights managers and researchers, the development of AI may imply potential threat that it will take over the role, or may provide opportunities that AI and research together provides newly added value.
In order to improve the value of insight business, we believe it is necessary to have a place for people involved to learn and stimulate each other.
Here in Japan, there has been no organization similar to EphMRA or Intellus which involves market researchers in pharma/healthcare industry, and those in research agencies.
Healthcare Market Intelligence Conference (HMIC) was established by the voluntary members who have belief and passion for the values of Insight roles.*
HMIC shall be the first learning network in Japan which can enhance cooperation between pharma/healthcare companies and Insight service providers.
This network is aimed to question ourselves, to share our experiences, and to enhance our skills of Insight Community in the Healthcare Industry in Japan.

*Insight roles include Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Forecasting, Market Access, Data Management which provide insights using data, information, analytics of the better decision making for people, business in the healthcare community.
**Healthcare Industry includes pharma companies, device companies, other services which contribute to life and health.

Mission Statement

- Enhance the value of intelligence/insight by gaining knowledge and skills of the people in those functions, and thereby reinforce contributions to the success of the pharma/healthcare companies.

- Promote human resource development in intelligence/insight functions in healthcare, and raise the significance of those organizations and service companies.

- With the above activities, contribute to development of pharma/medical industries and people’s health

* The Healthcare industry includes businesses that provide all medical-related goods and services, such as the pharmaceutical industry, medical equipment, and health tech.
**Insights function include all functions that collect, analyze and interpret information and insights necessary for decision making and strategy development of Healthcare operating companies, such as market research, data scientists function dealing with audit data, big data etc.

Actions for the Mission

- Provides a place for learning and interaction with people involved in Intelligence / Insight operations in the Healthcare industry.

- Enhance our knowledge and experiences by providing the opportunities of learning and exchanging the innovative ideas and cutting edge skills, overseas trend.

- Strengthen collaboration between insights function in this industry and insight service providers, and thereby enhance the value of intelligence/insights with including industry-academic-government.

- Encourage wide range of Intelligence / Insight personnel from young to experienced can participate, by keeping participation fees as low as possible.

Hitoshi Denno

Healthcare researcher and business leader with over 30 years experience.
He started his market research career as an analyst in consumer research, then later shifted into medical/pharmaceutical field.
He has lead the research businesses of SSRI, a leading full service
pharmaceutical market research company, and the pioneer in the arena in Japan since '80s.
Besides his business at SSRI, he also has played an important role in
the medical market research industry in Japan.
He took a leading role in founding Japan Medical Market Research Group and served as the first president of the organization.
